About Me

Gratefully, Mesa is a personal blog about gratitude and recognizing the “good things” in life. Life is full of little joys, treasures, and moments that are often taken for granted. Being grateful focuses on living in the now and appreciating what we have in this moment instead of anticipating what we will gain in the next. Good things are all around, all you need to do is take time to see them for what they are and savor in the moment. Happy reading and hope you enjoy, thanks for stopping by! Gratefully, Mesa

{gratitude} Pillow Talk

“The Best advice is found on the pillow.”
                           -Danish Proverb

No, not the 1959 classic with Doris Day & Rock Hudson… I’m talking about the good old fashioned pillow you rest your head on.  As I was laying in bed last night, I kept thinking how grateful I am for my pillow.  It might seem like a silly thing to be thankful for, but can you imagine life without one?  When I am exhausted after a long day’s work, nothing beats laying down & resting my head on a soft, comfy pillow.  There are all types of pillows: neck pillows, body pillows, decorative pillows, travel pillows, pillows for side & stomach sleepers, pillows for back sleepers, Tempur-pedic pillows, and even pillow pets (it’s a pillow, it’s a pet…), take your pick!  I would like to say thank you to my pillow for all it has done for me and my sanity, providing many restful nights of relaxing sleep!  And without further ado, I present “An Ode to my Pillow” by thislittleditty.com:

Oh clean and cool puff of perfection,
Pure white, an unblemished confection!

You sit there, a silent temptation-
My precious eight hour vacation.

Rarely you’re lumpy or twisted.
Consequently flipped over or fisted.

Deliciously gentle
(I’m so sentimental)
Oh Pillow, My Pillow Sublime!

The sight of you invokes a deep sigh.
The smell of you pulls closed my eyes.

A turn of my head and you call,
Inviting my body to fall,

Forgetting the day (oh so long),
Your pull has no strings, but is strong.

Deliciously gentle,
(Again, sentimental)
Oh Pillow, My Pillow Sublime!

So, here’s to the pillow, a puffy priceless perfection!

Gratefully,
   Mesa
